The Short Story...
Well today is the day our website is officially launched! It’s been two and a half years since the decision was made to write, arrange, and produce a collection of songs, and finally get them “out there”. The journey from idea to fruition has been a fascinating one. One in which I’ve had the honour of working with some incredibly talented and close friends.
Co-producer Larry Thompson and I have been friends for over 25 yrs. We both enjoyed lucrative years in the ‘80s with two of Windsor Ontario’s premier groups; “Barrelhouse” and “The Players Band”. And though our careers have paralleled, we have not collaborated on a project until “Orion Rising”. Long overdue, but such great fun and well worth it! Larry contributes his playing talents on 4 of OR’s tracks. Victor Bortolon, a fellow Barrelhouse musician, displays his wonderful guitar skills on 3 tracks. Melissa Danese’s smooth and soulful voice is featured as lead on two songs. And the voices of former stage partners Sara Mullins and Christina Fabischek can be heard on two other cuts. Certainly a project like this would not be complete without an impressive artistic presentation. Scott Hughes, you did an amazing job!
